Performance Music
Discovering a Musical Path
Music at Nudgee provides students with opportunities to develop their ability, confidence and enjoyment as musicians. Through instrumental and vocal tuition, ensemble participation and regular performance experiences, students are supported to grow both individually and as members of a musical community. The program welcomes students at different stages of development, from those beginning an instrument for the first time to experienced performers seeking advanced opportunities.
Developing Musical Skills
Tuition and Musical Development
Students can undertake specialist tuition in a range of instruments and voice, receiving guidance suited to their experience, goals and individual development. Lessons support students in building technical proficiency, musical understanding, performance confidence and effective practice habits.
As students progress, they are encouraged to take greater responsibility for their learning by setting goals, responding to feedback and preparing carefully for rehearsals and performances. Tuition can complement classroom learning and ensemble participation, creating a connected pathway through which students continue to develop as complete musicians.
Collaborative Music-Making
Ensembles and Belonging
The College offers a diverse range of ensembles that allow students to make music alongside others who share their interests. Depending on their instrument, voice and experience, students may participate in bands, choirs, orchestras or smaller specialist groups.
Ensemble participation teaches students to listen carefully, follow direction and understand how their individual contribution supports a larger musical outcome. Rehearsals create a strong sense of fellowship and shared purpose, bringing together students from different year levels through collective learning, preparation and performance.
Performing with Confidence
Performance and Representation
Students contribute to a wide range of performances throughout the year, including concerts, College liturgies, assemblies, competitions and significant community events. These experiences give students an authentic purpose for their preparation and allow them to share their learning with families, peers and the broader College community.
Performance opportunities range from a student’s first appearance before an audience to major productions and formal events. Each experience helps students develop composure, stage presence and the confidence to communicate through music while representing Nudgee with pride.
Our College is known for its outstanding results at the Queensland Catholic Music Festival Competition each year, as well as the Logan and Redlands Eisteddfod.
Individual Musical Journeys
A Place for Every Musician
The Music program provides pathways for students with different interests, abilities and ambitions.
A student may participate for enjoyment and connection, work towards advanced performance opportunities or explore leadership within an ensemble. Beginners are supported to establish strong foundations, while experienced musicians are challenged to refine their technique, musicianship and performance practice.
