Understanding Our World and Our Place Within It
Humanities and Social Sciences encourages students to explore the people, places and ideas that have shaped our world. Through History and Geography, boys develop the skills to investigate the past, understand current global challenges and become informed, responsible citizens. Through research, inquiry and critical analysis, students learn to evaluate perspectives, interpret evidence and engage thoughtfully with the world around them.
Junior School (Year 5-6)
Exploring Australia, Society and Global Connections
Junior School Humanities and Social Sciences introduces students to the foundations of historical, geographical and civic understanding through engaging inquiry-based learning.
Boys explore Australia’s history, including First Nations perspectives, colonisation, democracy and migration, while developing an understanding of global connections, geography and economic concepts. Through research projects and investigations, students build confidence in analysing evidence and sharing informed viewpoints.
Middle Years (Year 7-9)
Analysing the Past, Present and Future
Middle Years Humanities challenges students to investigate the complex forces that influence societies, environments and economies.
Through historical inquiry and geographical analysis, boys develop the ability to interpret information, evaluate different perspectives and construct well-supported arguments. These skills provide a strong foundation for senior pathways including History, Geography and Philosophy.
