Cattle Club
Where Agriculture Comes to Life
Nudgee Cattle Club gives students hands-on experience in cattle management, animal husbandry and agricultural competition. As a registered on-site Droughtmaster stud, the program provides opportunities to work with poddy calves, steers, chickens and multiple stud breeds, developing skills in animal care, exhibition, judging, teamwork and communication. Students attend around 10 agricultural shows each year across southern Queensland, including the EKKA and BEEF Week, gaining experience in different environments while building confidence and a deeper understanding of agriculture.
A Pathway for Every Young Farmer
What We Offer
Nudgee Cattle Club provides practical agricultural experiences for students across all year levels, with twice-weekly training at the College cattle yards and opportunities to compete and exhibit throughout the year.
Students prepare and exhibit cattle at shows across Queensland, developing their exhibition, judging and interpersonal skills through regular competition and hands-on animal care. The program's established industry connections, including partnerships with MCN, Glenlands, Camdun, Strathgyle, Erins Home and Olive Brahmans, give students opportunities to work with leading breeders and experience the agricultural industry at a national level.
The program culminates in the annual National Droughtmaster Sale at CQLX, where students contribute to the preparation and presentation of quality bulls bred through the College's Droughtmaster stud. Through these experiences, students build confidence, responsibility and industry knowledge while developing skills that extend well beyond the cattle yards.
