The following is an excerpt from edition 18 of Behind the Stripes.
Far from the traditional image of a quiet library lined with books, the Learning Centre is a lively part of daily life at Nudgee College.
At lunchtime, students might be building and coding robots through Robotics Club, sharing ideas at LEGO Club, challenging friends to a game of chess or Uno Flip, or simply connecting with peers and library staff.
The space also hosts a range of activities and support programs, including Writers’ Circle, Open Doors and Maths Homework Help, while providing students with somewhere to study, collaborate and work on assignments.
At the heart of the Learning Centre is a desire to foster curiosity and a genuine interest in learning. Through access to books, information, activities and opportunities to connect with others, students are encouraged to explore new ideas, discover their interests and develop a greater understanding of themselves and the world around them.
The Nudgee College Library is more than a place to borrow books. It is a welcoming and inclusive space where friendships are formed, ideas are shared, creativity is encouraged and students can feel a sense of belonging.
