Sport Development and Recreation develops students’ understanding of exercise, coaching and the role physical activity plays in healthy communities. Through practical experiences and sports-focused learning, boys explore fitness principles, leadership strategies and performance improvement. The subject builds confidence, teamwork and communication skills while preparing students for pathways in sport, recreation, fitness and community health industries.
Senior Preparation (Year 10)
Leading, Coaching and Optimising Performance
Year 10 Sport Development and Recreation introduces students to entry level exercise science, beginner coaching practices and active recreation practices.
Boys explore body systems, training methods and leadership techniques through practical activities including fitness training, team sports and outdoor recreational pursuits. Through coaching tasks, event management and performance projects, students develop the skills to design programs, lead groups and promote lifelong participation in sport and wellbeing.
