How many positions are available?

There are 150 positions available in Year 5.  Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to progress every applicant to the interview stage.

What documents do I need to submit as part of the application?

We require copies of the following documentation to be added to your son's application:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Baptismal Certificate (if Catholic)
  • Semester 1, 2025 School Report Card
  • Semester 2, 2025 School Report Card
  • Cover Letter
  • Student Interest Form (handwritten by the student)
  • Documentation relating to any Learning Support, Professional Assessments etc (if applicable)
  • Visa/Passport/Citizenship Documentation (if not born in Australia)

As the following will not be available to you before the applications close, we will email you to request the following at a later date. There is no need to supply these until they have been requested:

  • Semester 1, 2026 School Report Card
  • Year 3 NAPLAN results

What should be included in the Cover Letter?

Given the high volume of applications, it is essential that families submit a cover letter alongside their application. This letter plays a crucial role in providing information not captured in the application form, such as your reasons for applying, any prior connections to the College, and what your son and family will contribute to the Nudgee College community. Please ensure this letter is included, as it will significantly support the review of your application.

What is the interview like?

The interview lasts around 30 minutes and is an opportunity to get to know your son, his interests, favourite subjects at school and also answer any questions you may have.

While we understand it may not always be possible, our preference is for all parents/guardians attend the interview with their son.

Due to the volume of applications we receive, we are unable to progress every applicant to the interview stage.

Can I change to my son's entry to Year 7 instead?

There is a separate process which will be completed earlier next year for Year 7, 2030 entry. This is a smaller intake of approximately 40 Day positions and 40 Boarding positions. Please contact admissions@nudgee.qld.edu.au to let us know if you would like to change so that we can include you in communications when this application process commences.

If you complete the Year 5 process and decide at a later date to defer to Year 7, this will be subject to joining the waitlist.

Please see this guide for information about to help you decide between Year 5 and Year 7 entry.
