Maintenance Officer
St Joseph’s Nudgee College is seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Officer to join our growing Property & Services team. As our Maintenance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the College’s buildings, grounds and facilities remain safe, functional and well presented for students and staff. This is a hands-on role where every day brings variety, from repairs and preventative maintenance to safety checks and facility improvements.
The Role
Working closely with the Facilities Manager and broader Property & Services team, you will:
- Coordinate and manage the daily workflow of maintenance requests through email and the MEX system
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment and outdoor areas, identifying preventative maintenance needs
- Carry out repairs and specialised maintenance tasks including carpentry, plumbing and hardware work
- Manage water quality and plant operations for the College’s 25m and 50m pools, including regular testing
- Identify and address WHS risks and hazards across College facilities
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and use data to support facility improvements
- Assist with logistics and set-up for College events in collaboration with the Events team
- Liaise with and oversee external contractors to ensure work meets College standards and heritage requirements

You are a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in your work and understands the importance of safety, reliability and professionalism in a school environment.
You bring:
- Trade-level skills or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as carpentry, plumbing or electrical
- Knowledge of maintaining heritage buildings and structures
- Practical understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A friendly and professional approach with a commitment to excellent service
- A current Blue Card or willingness to obtain one
