St Joseph's Nudgee College is seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Officer to join our Property and Services team. As our Maintenance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the College’s buildings, grounds, and facilities remain safe, functional, and well-presented for students, staff, and families. This is a hands-on role where every day brings variety, from repairs and upkeep to safety checks and grounds maintenance.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate and oversee the daily workflow of jobs submitted via email and the Mex system to ensure timely completion.
  • Manage routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and outdoor play areas, identifying preventative maintenance needs.
  • Execute repairs and specialised maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, and hardware overhaul, beyond basic handyman duties.
  • Oversee water quality management for the 25m and 50m pools, ensuring technical compliance and plant room efficiency which includes pool testing
  • Analyse and mitigate WHS risks and hazards 
  • Maintain and audit accurate maintenance records, utilising data to recommend facility improvements.
  • Support the logistics for school event set-ups, coordinating with the Events team to manage resources and personnel.
  • Supervise and verify the work of external contractors to ensure all repairs meet College standards and heritage requirements.

You are a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in your work and understands the importance of safety, reliability, and professionalism in a child-focused environment.

You bring:

  • Trade-level competency or equivalent experience in a trade field e.g. carpentry, plumbing or electrical
  • Knowledge of maintaining heritage buildings and structures
  • Practical understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements
  • A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A friendly, professional manner and a commitment to excellent service
  • A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain

Additional desirable experience includes:

A valid Pool Operator Licence (training available for the right candidate)
