Maintenance Officer
St Joseph’s Nudgee College is seeking a proactive and reliable Maintenance Officer to join our Facilities team. As our Maintenance Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the College’s buildings, grounds, and facilities remain safe, functional, and well-presented for students, staff, and families. This is a hands-on role where every day brings variety, from repairs and upkeep to safety checks and grounds maintenance.
The Role
Working closely with the Facilities Manager and broader Property Services team, you will:
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, equipment, and outdoor areas
- Perform general maintenance and repairs (painting, blockages, pool testing, fixing doors, assembling furniture)
- Ensure all College areas are safe, clean, and hazard-free
- Coordinate with external contractors when required
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and respond promptly to requests
- Support the smooth daily operations of our vibrant learning environment
About You
You are a hands-on problem solver who takes pride in your work and understands the importance of safety, reliability, and professionalism in a child-focused environment.
You bring:
- Previous experience in a maintenance or handyman role
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable transport
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and organisational skills
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- A friendly, professional manner and a commitment to excellent service
- A current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or willingness to obtain
Additional desirable experience includes:
- A valid Pool Operator Licence (training available for the right candidate)
- Knowledge of maintaining heritage buildings and structures
- Practical understanding of Workplace Health & Safety requirements
