On Saturday 16 March the Nudgee College Rowing community braved the wet weather and headed to Wyaralong for the GPS Rowing Head of the River Championships.
The various crews competed admirably and produced a mixture of results. Rowing Director Mr James Burton credited the Open 2nd VIII with the race of the day. The crew had battled all season against a strong ACGS crew, switching back and forth between first and second place at all the lead-up regattas, but they managed to secure the win on the day.
The Open 1st VIII race for the O'Connor Cup was highly anticipated by the Nudgee College community, with the crew heading into the race with an undefeated season at stake. The boys rowed brilliantly finishing the course in just over six minutes and emerging victorious. This was the sixth time in seven years the Open 1st VIII secured the O'Connor Cup.
Overall, the Nudgee College Rowing Shed finished the day in fourth place.
