Where opportunities await and journeys begin

Open Day Online 2022

It is often said that coming to Nudgee College is like a golden ticket; a ticket filled with endless opportunities.

Whether your son is an academic, performer, engineer or avid sportsman; he will find his way at Nudgee College.

Equipped with 136 hectares with a swimming pool, athletics track, Cattle Club, playing fields, engineering sheds, boarding village and 105 classrooms, boys are armed with the tools to succeed as soon as they don their blue and white blazer.

Along the way, boys and their families become a part of the strong Nudgee College community which stays with them long after they have left the gates of the College.

Principal's Message

I would like to warmly welcome you to the 2022 St Joseph’s Nudgee College Open Day.

More than 1,700 students call Nudgee College their school, including 300 boarders for whom it is also their home. Our students are passionate about their school, dedicated to their learning, and determined to live out the College’s values of faith, excellence, courage, community, justice and authenticity.

As you explore the campus today, I encourage you to visit the DJ Hanly Learning Centre, the Bathersby Boarding Village and the Junior School. These are key locations where your son is likely to begin his Nudgee College journey. The Cleary Building, Edmund Rice Mall, McKennariey Centre, and Connors Centre will feature interactive subject displays, to help you immerse yourself in our curricular opportunities.

At the end of the day, our community is what makes Nudgee College special. There will be many staff members, students and current parents present throughout the campus who would be more than happy to have a chat.

Our Q&A panel at 12.00pm on the Tierney Green will provide another avenue for you to have your questions answered. To give you a variety of perspectives, the panel will feature myself, our Head of Mathematics, a parent, a Junior School student, boarder, our College Vice Captain as well as a Senior Prefect. This will be filmed and uploaded for you by the end of the day.

As a parent of a Nudgee College student myself, I understand how important it is to find the right school for your son. I hope your experience today helped you in making your decision.

Mr David Johnston

Acting Principal

Learning and Teaching

This, combined with the rich diversity of subject offerings, innovative use of technology and state of the art facilities creates an exceptional learning environment where all boys are able to grow, be challenged and thrive.

As the Dean of Boarding for St Joseph’s Nudgee College, I would like to warmly welcome you to Open Day Online. As a College, we first explored the concept of a virtual Open Day in 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic. With so many of our Boarding families located in regional and remote areas, we’re thrilled to be able to continue providing an Open Day experience from the comfort of your own home.

This page features several videos covering different areas of the school, as well as a virtual tour to allow you to explore our campus. I particularly encourage you to watch the Boarding Q&A video with myself and Director of Boarding Mr Mike Silcock, we had a great time putting this one together for you.

The on-campus Q&A panel will be filmed and uploaded by 2.00pm. This will feature Kai Goodes, who is a Year 8 Boarding student from Goondiwindi, as well as our Acting Principal Mr David Johnston, our Head of Mathematics Ms Louise Nardi, mum of our College Captain Ms Sarah Roati, Junior School student Patrick McKeown, College Vice Captain Andrew Tora, and Senior Prefect Tom Connellan.
