Following successful performances in the Shake Fest Regional Finals, Year 11 students Tom Lambert, Jack Read, and Ryan Abel have qualified for the State Final.

Shake Fest is a competition for students with a passion for acting, dancing, music, photography, videography, and visual art, to share their talents through the works of William Shakespeare.

In the duologue category, Tom and Jack performed a scene from William Shakespeare’s Hamlet, a play they studied this year in Drama.

“We will be performing the same scene at the State Final that we did in the Regional Finals; however we will be making changes based on the judges’ feedback,” Tom said.

As a fellow Year 11 Drama student, Ryan Abel also selected a piece from Hamlet to perform, in the monologue category.

The students will have familiar faces at the State Finals, with last year’s Nudgee College finalists Liam Riordan (NC 2008-15) and Jacob Elordi (NC 2014-15) reappearing in this year’s competition as the hosts.

The State Finals will be held on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 October at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts in Fortitude Valley.
