Today the Year 12 Physics students gathered in Tierney Auditorium for a video link presentation from Adelaide University astrophysicist Professor Gary Hill.

During the presentation, he spoke about his experiences at the South Pole, building and operating what is often referred to as the world’s weirdest telescope, the ‘IceCube’.

The telescope detects neutrinos, which are near massless subatomic particles, from distant star systems.

The presentation took place via Google Hangouts, allowing the students and staff to ask Professor Hill.
