Three Nudgee College students recently competed at the Under 17 Cricket National Championships.

Year 11 student Mitchell Connolly was part of the Queensland team, while Year 11s Connor Sully and Connor McFadyen represented the Cricket Australia XI as part of the Australian Under 16 team.

From 26 September to 6 October, the teams played eight matches of 50 over cricket. The Australian Under 16 team won two and tied one. The Queensland team qualified for the Grand Final on the back of an undefeated streak in the championships; however they ended up being defeated by New South Wales Metro.

Unfortunately, Mitchell Connolly injured his hand early in the competition and only managed to play three games; however he still managed to take two wickets.

Connor Sully finished the competition with 10 wickets at an average of 20.5, and Connor McFadyen ended with eight wickets at an average of 16.

Nudgee College’s Cricket Director Mr Brody Grogan said the boys all competed strong and represented the College well.
