On Saturday the Nudgee College 1st XV secured a tied Premiership alongside The Southport School, with a 43-17 win over Brisbane State High School.

This is the College’s 41st GPS Rugby Premiership.

After the game Head Coach Mr Gerard Alexander recounted to the team how spectators often spoke of how courageously they had played during the season.

“To me that is the ultimate compliment,” he said.

“I am proud of your efforts on the field, but I am more proud of the manner in which you have conducted yourselves around the school and while in public representing our school.”

In addition to the efforts of the players and coaches, Rugby Director Mr Sean Graham also acknowledged the role the community had played in the success of the season.

“We certainly had a ‘16th player’ on our team at every game, and I have no doubt this gave us an edge over our opposition,” he said.

During the season the 1st XV won seven games and were defeated once.
