Three St Joseph's Nudgee College Old Boys have been named as part of the 34-man Wallabies squad for their Spring Tour of Europe.

Forwards Richard Brown and Hugh McMeniman (both 2001 seniors) and utility back James O'Connor (2007) have been selected as part of the tour squad. The tour marks the 100th anniversary of the first Wallaby tour to the UK in 1908.

2000 senior Rocky Elsom was not considered for selection due to his decision to play for Irish side Leinster in the Magners League competition.

At just 18 years and 80 days of age, James is set to become the second youngest Wallaby ever.

Since graduating last year, the former Australian Schoolboy has been playing for the Western Force in the Super 14 competition. His selection in the Wallabies tour squad was so unexpected that James had to be tracked down to be told the good news.

"I was actually holidaying on Stradbroke Island with some mates and didn't have phone coverage," he said.

"When my mate tracked us down I thought it was a prank but I spoke with my dad who explained that it was all true."

First XV coaches Mr Todd Dammers and Mr Craig Morrison are not surprised by James's selection in the Wallabies squad.

"James was the most potent attacking schoolboy player in the GPS last year and, quite possibly, the country," they said.

"He threatened the defensive line every time he got near the ball, created space for his support and beat defenders seemingly at will. He is a very talented individual."

Members of the 45-man Nudgee College UK development squad will be hoping to see James, Richard and Hugh in action on December 3 when they attend the Wallabies final match of the tour against the Barbarians at Wembley.
