The St Joseph’s Nudgee College Cross Country team has followed in the footsteps of the swimming team and 1st XV in winning the 2010 GPS Championship.
Nudgee College tied with Terrace to win the championship, the College’s third GPS Cross Country Championship. Cross Country Coordinator Ms Maureen Toohey reports on the team’s victory.
The Nudgee College Cross Country team wrapped up the season in fine style recently, winning the Jack Ross Trophy (tie with GT) and coming home with Premierships in both the 15 and 16 years Age Groups.
To top off the successful morning at Limestone Park, Ipswich, Oliver Murphy-Kurth won the 15 years boys race, with 2nd placings to both Jonathan Rostron in the 15 years and Jonathan Burgess in the Opens. Other Top 10 finishes where Dylan Adkins (4th) in the 14 years, Kieran Storch (4th) in the 16 years, Soren Kingsbury (7th) in the 16 years and James Lingard (8th) in the 14 years.
This title is all about team work, and the 62 Nudgee College boys all performed above expectation, they worked well together and came through with many great runs.
At the end of the day joyous scenes were witnessed as Nudgee College was announced winners and Captain Jonathan Burgess and Vice-Captain Leo Karadimitris lifted the trophy proudly with the Terrace Captains.
At the end of season break up the following boys received recognition for their efforts:

Thanks to the Activities Office, the Athletes Parent Support Group and the parents and staff who helped out on the day.
The coaching staff – Mr Brock Taylor, Mr Nick Toohey, Mr Damian Chamley, Mr Dave Sneesby, Mr Dave Johnstone, Mr Sean Riley, Mr Paul Masters, and Mr Gerard Alexander – all contributed enormously to the teams’ victory.
