St Joseph’s Nudgee College students and staff left for England and France earlier this week as part of the College’s inaugural international cricket tour.

Cricket Program Manager Mr Mark Ensor reports on plans for the trip.

On Wednesday 16th June, 29 students and five staff members jetted off to England and France for Nudgee College’s first ever international cricket tour. The tour will comprise three weeks with the highlights many and varied.

The group will spend time in London, Bristol, Bath, Oakham, Strotford, and Denstone with the tour concluding with a night in Paris. The group will visit the home of cricket "Lords Cricket Ground' twice throughout the three week tour including having a training session at Lords (on Friday 18th June) and then watching Australia vs England in a One Day International (ODI) on July 3rd.

It is hoped the group will see Nudgee College Old Boy Nathan Hauritz (1998 Senior) playing for Australia.

On the cricket side of our experience, the touring party will have six very tough matches against very proud English cricket schools, not dissimilar to our famous College. These games will represent to all of the players a change in playing style and conditions unseen in our parts of the world, a wonderful opportunity for development on the field.

The tour could not have gone ahead without the wonderful support of many people including the sponsors:

  • MAJOR sponsor: Spacial Concepts
  • GOLD sponsors: Forrester Properties and Seasons Supported Living.
  • BLUE sponsors: SecurCorp and Renew My Car
  • WHITE sponsors: Traffic Barrier Transport, Seahawks Clothing and Promotions and Raine and Horne - Gladstone .
