Nudgee Music Tour
April 29, 2008
Music students from Nudgee College will tour and perform at several regional schools from April 27 to May 3 as part of the College's third annual Music Tour.

This year's trip will see the boys travel to Yeppoon, Rockhampton, Mackay, Moranbah, Emerald and Biloela - a total of 2248 kilometres. They will make 12 performances during the Tour.
Nudgee Head of Music Brad Voltz said the performance experience gained through touring provided valuable support for work undertaken as part of Senior Music Studies at the College.
"Boys that participate in these trips are mostly from Years 11 & 12 and are completing competencies toward their senior music studies. All students are also members of various College Rock Bands," he said.
All but one of the thirteen boys participating in the 2008 Music Tour are from Brisbane. Their experiences of travelling and performing in Central QLD will help develop them as budding Musicians and as young Nudgee men.
"The boys touring this year are looking forward to learning more about themselves, strengthening friendships and cohesion as a band and being entertainers," Mr Voltz said.
The first major Nudgee Music Tour was held in 2006. In that year the group toured to St George, Cunnamulla, Charleville and Roma.
In 2007, thirteen boys undertook a trip of over 2500 kilometres and travelled inland again visiting Roma, Blackall, Longreach, Emerald and Biloela. The 2007 students performed at eleven different venues and broadcasted live on ABC Western Regional Radio and on The School of the Air at Longreach.
Mr Voltz believes tours such as this are important for the College as they take the current students back to the very origins of Nudgee and allow members of the College to catch up with current and past families.
"We do hope to catch-up with past families and many Old Boys. Nudgee is very committed to the people in the bush. We educate and care for their sons as Nudgee Boarders and see it as our responsibility to maintain a healthy link with them and the land," he said.
