Nudgee drummer wins Battle of the Bands prize

Nudgee student David Keenan has won Best Drummer for his performance with his band, In Jacks Honour, during Allegria's Battle of the Bands.

Bands from all over Brisbane assembled on Saturday May 26 to take part in the competition hosted by Channel Ten celebrity and Nudgee Old Boy Wes Dening. 19 bands competed for prizes including a $1,000 first prize and a $500 first prize.

The Invain won first place with band members Daniel Everett, Andrew Hearle, Kris De Waard, and Tommy Jeffreys sharing $1,000 of prize money.

Gregory Terrace band The Pieces won second place with band members Ben Cook, Daniel Cooney, Max Stephens, and Andrew Quinn sharing a $500 prize.

Judges also awarded individual performance prizes for best guitarist, best bass player, vocalist and drummer, each winning a tool of his or her trade.

The competition judges included The Courier Mail's chief music writer Noel Mengel, Music Junction representative Skye Staniford, and Yooniq Recording Studio founder Oliver Friedrich.
