Bands from all over Brisbane will assemble on Saturday May 26, to take part in a Battle of the Bands competition. Hosted by TEN's Wes Dening, B105 is also in the mix. The competition is part of Allegria, the annual platform for the arts held at Nudgee College, on Sandgate Road.

Judged by the Courier-Mail's chief music writer, Noel Mengel and a music industry representative from sponsors, Music Junction, prizes are up for grabs. First prize is $1000, second prize $500, and best guitarist, best bass player, vocalist and drummer will win a tool of his or her trade.
Exposure to TV and radio celebrities, along with industry judges is offered, and provides under 18 year old band members the venue to play original music as well as covers. Many are restricted in opportunities to perform as most professional venues are licensed premises.
Last year 17 bands competed, from as far a field as the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay.
The bands will perform from 1pm through till 8pm, and the battle is hosted by the overall event, Allegria, which runs from 11am until 8pm.
Other activities taking place on the day include a grape stomping competition, fashion parades, hip hop dancing displays and roving entertainment in the form of unicycling, stilt walking, juggling and the like.
An art exhibition and competition with a total prize pool of $3200 offers the opportunity to purchase original pieces.
B105 and Triple M's MMM Brisbane's General Manager, Richard Barker and Wes, both past students of Nudgee are pleased to lend their support to the community event.
