Senior Investiture
February 20, 2007
The Opening Eucharistic Celebration and Investiture of Senior Students last Friday was the platform for a wonderful liturgy and fine words of wisdom.
Fr John Kilinko imparted significant messages to our young men; and Br Vic Larkin, with great wisdom, challenged the leadership capacity and responsibilities of each student at the College. College Captain, Aaron Chong also spoke eloquently as he introduced this year's theme and symbol.
Young College Leaders chose the theme 'Unite through Spirit'. The theme suggests that action by each individual is needed to ensure that not only Nudgee College moves forward, but society in general.
The symbol developed to represent the theme is that of a river wending its way upwards, from a base of solid foundations.
The symbol of the river is powerful and dynamic. A river has direction. A river gives life. A river sometimes breaks boundaries. A river has energy. A river has the capacity to embrace people and to carry people along. A river creates life. A river sustains life. A river is formed by a number of tributaries which add to its strength. A river enters into the greater ocean and provides sustenance for a new and larger body of water.
There is no doubt that the foundations of St Joseph's Nudgee College are indeed strong.
Such is the journey of young men through St Joseph's Nudgee College. All students are welcome. But there is a necessity for students to take positive action in terms of their engagement in the activities and endeavours at St Joseph's Nudgee College. It is only through energetic and positive involvement that we will be a force which unites through spirit. Congratulations Year 12's. We look forward to a year of exceptional leadership.
