Several Nudgee students and staff aided Community Life Program (CLP) participants with their touch rugby game last week.

CLP works with individuals with mild intellectual disabilities through healthy relationships within the local community.

Nudgee Director of Campus Ministry Matt Kearney says the college's Community and Mission department will organise more touch rugby games with CLP.

"These games mix both the College's love of rugby with the philosophy of Edmund Rice."

"This is about building relationships with the community that are beneficial and where's a real need," he says.

CLP coordinator Morrie O'Connor says the organisation helps a lot of people with mental health issues, cognitive problems and intellectual disabilities.

"We started the touch rugby games to build mental health through fitness."

Nudgee and CLP plan future touch rugby games to start in Term Three.
