St Josephs Nudgee College music students will be performing at several regional Queensland schools from July 18–23 as part of the College’s fifth annual Music Tour.

This year’s trip will see the boys travel to Roma, Charleville, Blackall, Barcaldine, Emerald, and Biloela. They will make eight performances during the Tour, including performing at community functions in Blackall and Barcaldine. 

“The performance experience gained through touring provides valuable support for work undertaken as part of Senior Music studies at the College,” said Mr Brad Voltz, Coordinator of Music at Nudgee College.

“Boys who participate in these trips are mostly from Years 11 and 12 and are completing competencies toward their Senior Music studies. All students are also members of various College Rock Bands,” he said.

Although two of the students participating in the 2010 Music Tour are boarding students at the College, neither of them are from the areas being visited. For all participating students, the experience of travelling and performing in regional Queensland will be interesting and will help develop them as budding musicians and as young Nudgee College men.

“The boys touring this year are looking forward to learning more about themselves, strengthening friendships and cohesion as a band and being entertainers. Ten of the boys are from Brisbane, one is from the Sunshine Coast and the other is from Warialda in New South Wales so there’s a good mix,” said Mr Voltz. 

The first major Nudgee College Music Tour was held in 2006 with the group touring to St George, Cunnamulla, Charleville and Roma.
