St Joseph’s Nudgee College had a double reason to celebrate recently after receiving a community grant from the NAB and being awarded an education marketing award.

In a joint school-community partnership application with Stuartholme School and Street Swags, Nudgee College was successfully awarded a NAB Schools First Impact Award worth $50,000.

Impact Awards are allocated to schools whose community partnerships are already established and are having a demonstrated impact on students. This year, NAB Schools First received 863 high quality applications, recognising and awarding 60 Impact Award winners with $50,000 each.

All Impact Award winners are now eligible to become their respective State/Territory Impact Award winner and will receive an additional $50,000 towards their school-community partnership.

Each State/Territory Impact Award winner will then be in the running for the National Impact Award where their total aggregate awards funding will be $500,000.

In responding to the application the judges said, “The strength of this partnership is in the fact that the whole school is involved and students are exposed to those in need in a positive way. The partner is giving the students the opportunity to gain empathy, compassion and an understanding of a part of society they may not otherwise see.”

The success with the grant was followed shortly after by attendance of the Development and Communications Team at the Australian Marketing Institute’s (AMI) State Awards for Marketing Excellence. The awards celebrate the most effective and innovative marketing in a variety of categories.

In its first year of participating in the AMI awards, Nudgee College entered into two categories - Brand Revitalisation and Education. The College was a finalist in the Brand Revitalisation category and won the Education category.

Winning the state award for Education means the College is now in the running for the National awards to be held in Sydney in October.
