Staff from St Joseph's Nudgee College Brisbane, better known as Nudgee, will be visiting Papua New Guinea from March 26 to April 4, 2008.

The staff will meet with families interested in sending their sons to Nudgee in the future, as well as catching up with current families and Old Boys from the College.

Head of Junior Boarding Residence Mr John Cross will be available to meet families and to implement a formal enrolment meeting, saving parents time and the expense of completing this in Brisbane in the future.

Alternatively, families can arrange a time to speak with John simply to learn more about Nudgee and what it has to offer their sons.

Mr Cross believes that by attending Nudgee, PNG Boys gain the benefits of a well-rounded education, encompassing the academic curriculum, sports program, catholic and religious instruction and social opportunities.

"There are 41 PNG boys currently attending Nudgee, who make a very welcoming community for any new boys," he said.

"These boys add a very positive influence to the College, bringing their local customs and ideas. They teach the Australian boys new things and the PNG boys learn Australian ways. The blend is very harmonious and strong friendships develop."

All Nudgee boys develop strong bonds whilst attending the College, which is heightened even further when Old Boy reunions and special occasions are held.

The Nudgee Spirit is a very powerful feeling, which connects all Nudgee Old Boys, from across generations and cultures, providing an immediate bond.

PNG boys have attended the College since 1907 with boys from areas such as Wewak, Rabaul, Milne Bay, Mt Hagen and Port Moresby travelling to Brisbane to undertake their junior and senior secondary schooling.

On a recent visit to Brisbane, 1993 Old Boy Maui Alaluku commented on how strong the connections were, particularly now friends were getting married.

Maui recently attended a friend's wedding in Auckland at which he proudly provided a Nudgee Rugby jersey as a gift.

Maui is assisting with the Nudgee get-together in Port Moresby on April 3 2008, which is to be held at the Lamana Hotel.

Lamana Hotel owner and Nudgee Old Boy Kostas Constantinou is very happy the function is being held at his hotel. Nudgee get-togethers will also be held in Madang, Lae and Mt Hagen.

The largest boys' boarding school in Brisbane, Nudgee College is located just 15 kilometres north-east of Brisbane's CBD on a 136 hectare property, which provides ample space for the boys.

Nudgee is only 15 minutes from the international airport and its location makes travelling to and from Brisbane city, Suncorp Stadium, galleries and museums relatively simple.

Campus facilities are also of a very high standard with ten football fields, two swimming pools, gymnasium, synthetic running track, golf course, music studio and many other resources.

Nudgee staff will also visit PNG locations including Port Moresby (March 26 to 27 & April 3 to 4), Madang (March 28 to 29), Lae (March 30 to 1 April), and Mt Hagen (April 2 to 3).

Any families wishing to meet with staff during this visit, can contact Nudgee's Director of Development, Mr John Andrew, in Brisbane on 617 3865 0550 or by email jandrew@nudgee.com to arrange a convenient time.

Alternatively you can call him after March 26 on Digicel number 7295 8112.

All Old Boys and past families who wish to attend the social functions can also contact Mr John Andrew.

Please check the website for further updates on the PNG visit.
