2010 St Joseph’s Nudgee College Year 12 students did themselves and the College proud with impressive final results.

Leading the group of Overall Position (OP) eligible students, were eight who received the highest possible result, an OP 1. Another 16 students received either an OP 2 or OP 3.

“In 2010, Nudgee College had 211 students who were OP eligible,” said Dean of Learning and Teaching Mr David Johnston.

“The remaining 56 students received a tertiary entrance rank and/or are completing an apprenticeship or traineeship.

“I would like to acknowledge the significant achievement of the eight students who received an OP 1, the six students who received an OP 2, and the ten students who received an OP 3,” he said.

2010 joint Dux’s Allister Harrison, Jake Richardson and Julian Tonino all received an OP 1. The boys were joined by fellow students Jay Adkins, Alex Dalton, Sean Minehan, Sam Nelson, and Michael Potts.

However it wasn’t just in the OP 1 results that Nudgee College excelled. Impressive results were achieved by the entire cohort with 19.9% of students receiving an OP 1-5 and 79.6% an OP 1-15. These results put Nudgee College well ahead of both the state average and the average results for males.

OP eligible students also performed well in the Queensland Core Skills (QCS) Test with 17.7% achieving an A and 75.8% either an A, B or C.

In addition to the OP results, Nudgee College vocational students achieved a total of 171 Level I and II Certificates which provide the first step in their career or can be used towards tertiary entrance.

“Nudgee College is extremely proud of the OP and vocational results received by the class of 2010,” said Mr Johnston.

“These results not only reflect the hard work of the students but are also a testament to the school's policy of encouraging students to undertake a program of learning that best suits each individual.

“The professionalism of the staff, who focus on high academic standards while developing the whole person, and commitment of the QCS preparation team were key ingredients in the success of the class of 2010.”
