Rowing

Nudgee College Rowing took its first stroke on the 29th August 1998 with its first intake of Year 8 boys. The first season saw Patrick Herde as the fastest sculler in GPS competition. The second season saw the College’s Under 15 1st IV come a very close second to BBC. In the College’s third season the rowing program grew to cater for boys in the Under 14, Under 15 and Under 16 age groups.
In 2002 Nudgee College came third in its first Senior Head of the River Competition. The 1st VIII were Under 19 Queensland State Champions.
In 2003 Nudgee College won GPS Head of the River after only two years in the competition.
In 2009, Nudgee College had 119 boys competing in the GPS competition with an additional 50 Year 8 rowers training at Lake Kurwongbah, courtesy of Pine Rivers Rowing Club, over four afternoons a week. Not only this, the College is now seen as a major competitive power by other schools involved in the sport for many decades. The fleet has also flourished with the latest addition, a state of the art Hudson Racing eight from Canada.
Nudgee College is now dominating Year 10 events in quads, winning Open 1st and 2nd VIII events and seeking a top three placing in the main event, the Old Boy’s Cup.
