In 1989 football was introduced as a GPS sport. Mr Tony Clarke, the inaugural director of the sport at the College, guided football through these formative years.

Perhaps the most instrumental move by the College to boost the game was to appoint Mr Gordon Arrowsmith as 1st XI coach in 1995. Gordon, a pillar of the Queensland football community with coaching experience at a national level and acknowledged on an international scale, transformed the Nudgee College 1st XI team into one of the highest standards of schoolboy football in Australia, resulting in five premierships since 1995.

Since then, former Head of Football Paul Edwards and former Socceroo and 1st XI Head Coach, Col Bennett have guided the team to two unbeaten seasons. In 2012 Jamie Pybus will take the role of Head of Football looking to develop players to representative level, state level and beyond and, of course, aiming to put Nudgee College in the hunt for a GPS Premiership title.
