On this page you will find information about Year 5–7 enrolments at Nudgee College. Years 5–7 are part of the College's Middle School which continues until the end of Year 9.
What is the philosophy of Nudgee College's Middle School?
Middle Schooling is an educational concept, philosophy or approach to teaching young adolescents. This group is usually characterised as between Years 5 and 9. It's a concept that is gathering momentum, both nationally and internationally, and aims to meet the unique needs of children in that age group.
How many students will be in each class?
There will be a maximum of 25 students in each class.
How many classes will there be per year level?
There will be a maximum of four classes per year level in Years 5–7.
Where will my son's classrooms be located?
Years 5–7 classrooms are located in the O’Neill Building. The O'Neill Building contains general purpose classrooms, science, computing and library facilities. Sport and recreation spaces are located close-by. A convenient drop-off area is positioned at the front of the building as you enter the College.
What will my son study?
The curriculum is similar to that offered in other Middle Schools and includes the range of subjects listed below. For specialist classes, such as Technology, students use general College facilities.

- Studies of Society and Environment (SOSE)

What uniform will my son wear?
Year 5–7 students wear the same uniform currently worn by other students. The summer uniform is worn in Terms 1 and 4 while the winter uniform is worn in Terms 2 and 3.
What sports will my son be able to play?
Nudgee College participates in the CIC competition. Sports in the CIC competition are:
- Term 1 - Swimming, Cricket
- Term 2 - Cross-country, Rugby Union, Football
- Term 3 - Tennis, Basketball, Athletics
Does Nudgee College offer After School Care?
At this point in time, Nudgee College is still investigating after school care options.
What are the fees?

At what Year level will you take boarding students?
The youngest Year level for acceptance into boarding is Year 6. There will be limited spaces in both Years 6 and 7 for boarding students.
Can I apply for Years 5, 6 & 7 for calendar years beyond 2010?
Yes. Simply complete the existing Application for Enrolment Form, clearly stating which year level (e.g. Year 5) and calendar year (e.g. 2012).
If I do not apply for Year 5, 6 or 7, will there be places in Year 8?
Yes there will be places. By 2011, it is expected that the main entry point to Nudgee College will be at Year 5, where we will accept 100 students each year.
For Year 8, there will be a capped capacity of 225 students. Therefore another 125 positions will be available for families applying for Year 8 entry.
As each year level progresses there may be a limited intake of new students, as other students leave.
