Nudgee College Rugby History
Order your book today and enjoy the story of these great and good men!
St Joseph’s Nudgee College is rightly proud of its reputation as the cradle of Queensland Rugby. No other school in GPS history has won so many premierships or had so many players go on to represent their state and country. Of Great and Good Men is a historical and pictorial record of those proud 120 years: team photographs, scores and game highlights, extracts from match reports, and interviews with past 1st XV players.
This book is an initiative of the college and the Rugby Support Group, in conjunction with the Chris D’Arcy Bursary, and highlights the careers of those Nudgee College players who went on to give so much to the game, domestically and internationally. These range from our first Wallaby – Voy Oxenham – to Wallaby captains Mark Loane, Paul McLean and Rocky Elsom and to our twenty-second and most recent Wallaby, James O’Connor.
Of Great and Good Men is a treasure trove of stories about rugby and how it came to represent the famed spirit of the college. Any Nudgee boy who has ever donned the famous blue and white stripes, as his father or grandfather might have done before him, will be sure to treasure this publication.
Proceeds from the book sale will directly fund the construction of cabinets in the new College Museum in order to house a nationally significant collection of rugby memorabilia.
