Mr Paul Begg was appointed to the position of Dean of Students in August 2008 from St Paul's School, Bald Hills where he served as the Dean of Staff. Prior to this Paul spent 16 years in Edmund Rice Education firstly at St Edmund's College, Ipswich where he performed as Sportsmaster and then as House Dean of Treacy House over a nine year period. Following this Paul returned to his alma mater St Laurence's College working in pastoral roles as Head of Years 10, 11 and 12 over a seven year period. The diversity gained through these experiences has proved a significant asset.

Paul was educated at St Laurence's College from Year 5 graduating in 1987 before completing education degrees at both Australian Catholic University and Griffith University. Following this he completed a degree in Business with a double major in Human Resource Management and Communication. Paul completed a Masters in Educational Leadership in 2005 through ACU and has been a member of the Australian College of Educators since 2004.

Paul's other passionate pursuits have been swimming, rugby and volleyball, with the latter in particular being a successful platform with Paul having coached and managed the Queensland Schools team since 2001, winning four national titles during that time. In addition he also led St Edmund's College to a State Honours Volleyball Championship and St Laurence's to AICs overall Champion School title. Paul remains an active sports coach at the College.

As Dean of Students Paul encourages students to break the shackles placed on them by the expectations of others, commit to what they want to achieve and work tirelessly toward success. Developing a clear sense of self, setting S.M.A.R.T. goals and developing small step plans to achieve their dreams is the focus of Nudgee College's student formation team and our formation program. Paul is married to wife Natalie and has two children.
